Love of the stage by josh-5410 Love of the stage by josh-5410
Or she's just rehearsing.. whatever. This was originally supposed to be Octavia standing alone on a stage, but ended up being an entire concert hall (designed by me, mostly) while Octavia just so happens to be there. Well, I'm still very happy with it.
This is by far my biggest piece~ it took a whopping 29 hours over a period of 5 days to complete. :dead:

I did a far, far, FAR less detailed drawing of something similar.

My word.

Just. . .I often search Deviant Art for well drawn, original pieces of artwork. Not only to study, analyze, and enjoy, but also to bring out or find emotion in them.

There has been nothing i have found so far that can compare to the expressions you boast in your sketches. I'm simply in awe.

Thank you so much for your contribution to this fandom.  They are beautiful.

Could you make this (and the colored version) available as print? Also your other awesome art? I think I'd not be the only one who'd totally buy your awesome art.

I'd love to, really.. But putting anything that has a pony on it for prints may infringe on Hasbro's copyrights, or so I've been told. People seem to do it regardless, but I like to play it safe. Sorry :(
Glad you like my art, though! :)

This looks very familiar... Is it based off of one of the concert halls at the Kennedy Fine Arts Center, by any chance? Probably not, but that's what it looks like, to me :p

This is amazing. You should be proud! So this is the magic of the pencil? I've not tried using anything but a writing pencil in sketches (HB2). I didn't think it was possible to get such shades!

Absolutely Dazzling! You've clearly demonstrated you artistic ability with the intricate details of the rows of chairs in the audience and the realistic shadow-work, as well as the ceiling patterns and the chandeliere in the top center. As for Octavia, her perspective is very good; she is standing up (but not slouching), and she is turned so that we get a small glimpse of her face, without being too revealing or showy. This adds an almost humble effect to Octavia, which matches the gentle but proper personality given to her by the fans. Portraying her from the back rather than the front was a smart choice, because it allows the viewer to see the entire audience hall, rather than just a stuffy curtain, thus suggesting the caliber of her performance. Overall, I am more impressed with this than much of the other FiM artwork, because of the level of detail that strays from the cartoonish mirth of the show and transforms it into something breathtaking.

Do you freehand the architecture, or do you use measurements?
It's almost perfectly symmetrical, and I know that's not easy to achieve by chance.

Holy dick. Your attention to detail is staggering! I always overlook backgrounds because I'm too interested in the characters; I assume people would care about the background as little as I do.

This proves me well wrong, it's gorgeous and makes the image what it is. Good job!
